We are Atlanta’s preeminent dog company, offering award-winning training, lodging, playcare, grooming and retail services. We are looking for rock stars who are passionate, responsible and dependable and who want to work for our team! Previous experience in dog husbandry and/or retail customer service is preferred, however we will train the right person. This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment with a cohesive and supportive team. The most basic requirement is that you must LOVE dogs! We put the pups first in everything we do. Some lifting is required and you must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods, with some work outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

FRONT OF HOUSE AND BACK OF HOUSE TEAM MEMBERS

FRONT OF HOUSE: CUSTOMER COACH
The Customer Coach is an integral part of our team. As the first person clients see when they visit K-9 Coach, professionalism and an outgoing personality are critical for success. Your primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service and consultative sales of pet related products. Light administrative and clerical duties include meeting and greeting customers, checking customers in as they arrive for their scheduled appointments, making appointments, cleaning of lobby and reception areas.

You are perfect for this job if you:

  • Love dogs — Handling experience preferred but not required
  • Have good communication skills
  • Want to join a cohesive group that works to support each other
  • Are a responsible, dependable team player
  • Are physically able — shifts require you to be on your feet most of the time. You will do some heavy lifting and will work outdoors in variable temperatures and conditions
  • Have the ability to listen and take instructions; while also working independently and using own initiative once properly trained
  • Have your own reliable method of transportation
  • Are willing to work a flexible schedule. Opening and closing shifts, as well as holidays and weekends are expected

 

BACK OF HOUSE: COMFORT COACH
The Comfort Coach position includes interaction with customers as necessary, cleaning kennels, feeding dogs, giving medications, doing dishes and laundry, managing our camp enrichment activities and group play, performing ancillary services like private play times, pool plays, and rub downs.

You are perfect for this job if you:

  • Have a record of accomplishment (one year minimum) selling in a retail environment (pet retail preferred)
  • Are excited about helping pet owners solve pet related problems
  • Take pride in your work environment – cleaning, merchandising and restocking as necessary
  • Are not shy and love to talk to people
  • Are an exceptional salesperson – can up-sell or down-sell while always remaining friendly and personable (no high pressure sales)
  • Want to be part of an incredible team
  • Have a love for animals
  • Are willing to work a flexible schedule. Opening and closing shifts, as well as holidays and weekends are expected

PROFESSIONAL TRAINERS OR BEHAVIORISTS

K-9 Coach is looking for new full-time and part-time Professional Trainers or Behaviorists to join our award-winning, full service canine center located in Vinings, GA. Recognized nationally as a leader in the industry, K-9 Coach is located 10 minutes from downtown Atlanta in a beautiful suburban area with a solid affluent client base.

With over 15 years of continued success, K-9 Coach is dedicated to providing practical positive training and behavior modification solutions for our pet dog clients. The positions offered involve teaching weekly group classes, day training, private lessons and board-and-train dogs. We provide a supportive, collaborative environment with a strong commitment to the continuing education and professional development of our staff, an excellent compensation package, paid vacation/sick leave, full time staff support, cell phones and more.

Full Time Job Description:

  • Teach and assist in curriculum development for pet dog group classes
  • Conduct private lessons and day training
  • Train board-and-train dogs
  • Assist in behavior consults, follow-up training and behavior clinics
  • Evaluate dogs for play groups
  • Behavioral evaluations for our rescue partners

 

Part Time Instructors:

  • Teach 1 or 2 group classes each week
  • Conduct private lessons
  • Assist current training staff as needed
  • Assist in behavior consults, follow-up training and behavior clinics

 

The ideal qualifications that we are seeking include:

  • A passion for education and learning more about dog behavior
  • Excellent interpersonal, teaching, and customer service skills
  • Commitment to delivering results for our human clients
  • A true team player who understands and works well within a diverse team and changing environment.
  • A strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently
  • 1+ years group class instruction experience
  • 1 to 2 years + private lessons experience
  • Independent certification or desire and ability to become certified within 90 days of employment: CCPDT or IAABC certifications preferred. (KPA CTP and/or CNWI a big plus, but independent certification will be required after employment)
  • MUST, at a minimum, be AKC Approved Canine Good Citizen Evaluator
  • The flexibility to play various roles in a small but rapidly growing training company
  • Proficiency with a variety of positive training methodologies (clicker, lure and reward, toy training) and the flexibility to use whatever best meets the needs of our busy clients and their family pets
  • Critical thinking skills and a commitment to a scientific approach to training
